Copan Ruinas

Copán Ruinas

The main attraction in Copán Ruinas is the Copán archaeological site, which was once a major Maya city. The site is famous for its intricate stelae (carved stone monuments), altars, hieroglyphic staircases, temples, and other structures that provide valuable insights into Maya history and culture. Copán Ruinas is the first town you come to when crossing the Caserio El Florido border.

Utila

Utila is known as a divers paradise and is one of the safe spots in Honduras. It is particularly famous for its whale shark encounters. These gentle giants are the world's largest fish and are known to visit the waters around Utila, especially from March to April and August to September. Getting to Utila is generally a flight for around around $225USD return from San Pedro Sula (SAT) or Roatan (RTB). The flight from San Pedro to Utila is around 40 minutes. The easiest way to navigate this would be to catch a plane from Guatemala. However this would mean adjusting a visit to Copán Ruinas

San Pedro Sula

San Pedro Sula

San Pedro Sula is the second-largest city in Honduras, located in the northwestern part of the country. It is a major economic and industrial hub, known for its commerce, manufacturing, and transportation infrastructure. The most notable building/ attraction in the area is St. Peter the Apostle Metropolitan Cathedral Cathedral. Located in the heart of the city, it also fronts a large park area. For those with a few hours to kill and want to see the city it is going to be the best landing point.
